Santa Luzia

Santa Luzia is a friendly and picturesque small fishing village and still quite an undiscovered part of the Algarve. It is known as the Portuguese capital of the octopus, which can be found in different ways on the menu of the many restaurants that Santa Luzia has to offer. Fantastic is the twelve kilometer long sandy beach. From the port of Santa Luzia daily fishing boats leave for the sea. From the boulevard you have a magnificent view of this port and the boats in the lagoon.

Tavira

Tavira is about 20 km from the Spanish border, 30 km from Faro and 10 minutes from Casa Manor Pedras de Cima! It is a nice old town at the mouth of the river Gilao and in the middle of the salt pans of Ria Formosa. Because of its location along the river, Tavira is also called the Venetië van de Algarve .The center is attractive and lively in all seasons and has good restaurants, terraces, bars and shops. Tavira is still one of the few places where, despite tourism, the Portuguese character has been preserved. The old city walls, botanical garden, the Roman bridge Ponte Romana and the many churches (38!) are also worth a visit.

Parque Natural da Ria Formosa

In the eastern part of the Algarve between Faro and Tavira lies a 60 km long belt of ( peninsula ) islands with lagoons and islets behind it: 'Parque Natural da Ria Formosa'. It covers an area of 18,000 ha and is of great importance for migratory birds. It is an internationally recognised wetland.

Cacela Velha

Beautiful old piece of Portugal, once voted the most beautiful place, with a fantastic view over Ria Formosa. The village has a beautiful square, church and a few nice restaurants. From the village there is a footpath down to the beach. On the beach itself there are no facilities. At high tide there is a boat from the village of Fabrica to Cacela Velha beach.

Ilha de Culatra

Ayamonte en
Vila Real de Santo Antonio

Fancy some tapas? Then go to Ayamonte. A lovely typical Spanish town just across the border. You can go there by car (25 minutes drive) or by ferry from Vila Real de Santo Antonio.
